The spectacular gorge Agiofarago and its pebbly beach offers a wild isolated feeling

Agiofarago (gorge of saints as its name means in greek) is located about 80 km south of Heraklion.

That beautiful and spectacular gorge leads to a pebbly beach with crystal water.

There,on the west side of the beach, is an arch, beneath which you can swim and enjoy scenes like those that Christos Oikonomakis captured with his camera.

To get to Agiofarago you have two choices: either  to cross the gorge, which we highly recommend, (easy hiking about 30 minutes) or take a boat from Agia Galini or Kali Limenes.

If you choose the fisrt option you shall have the opportunity to admire the veritcal cliffs of the gorge, the Nerium oleander trees and of course the caves, which are located around the church of saint Antonios, where, hermits lived in the past and from whom the gorge took its name.
